** SPECIAL NOTICE **

On March 21st, 2020, Governor Pritzker issued a “Shelter in Place” Executive Order for the entire State of Illinois. This order deems electrical workers and contractors as essential business and personnel and therefore exempt from the “Stay at Home” provisions of this order. This would mean that this order does not require all job sites to shut down. Even though this order does not specifically call out shutting down job sites, please understand that a job site may still be shut down due to customer concerns. Neither the Union nor the electrical contractor can control whether a customer shuts down a job, please keep that in mind. As we speak contractors are working with the customers to find out what will remain open and what will be closing.
The mutual agreement between the IBEW and NECA allows for the furloughing of employees affected by the virus. They will immediately be eligible for unemployment without a contractor being able to contest benefits.
As the COVID-19 situation rapidly evolves, we are monitoring the guidance of the CDC and taking precautionary measures for our members and staff. While the office of IBEW Local 601 will remain OPEN, the doors are locked to outside traffic until APRIL 7, 2020. This date is subject to change with the state and federal recommendations and laws.
Referral procedures have been modified to allow for electronic signing.  For additional information regarding this modification, please refer to the web site under referral procedures or job board.
Contractors needing to check into the jurisdiction can do so by phone and email/fax.  Both are required in order to check into the jurisdiction.
At this point it has become increasingly clear jobs will be affected and there will be disruption to our daily lives. We will do our best to keep the Local updated with the most current information. These are trying times and uncertainty is very high. As a union during this time, we must work together and do what we can to overcome adversity together. Please work safely and take the proper precautions to protect yourself and your family. As always please reach out to us at the hall with any questions or concerns, 217-352-1741 or office@ibew601.org. Please understand we have had an increased call volume and will do our best to answer every call or call back as soon as we possibly can.
Adhering with the Governor's Executive Order the April Union Meeting is canceled; however, E-Board meetings will continue via conference calls.
The Steak Stag is currently postponed to a future date, yet to be determined.
We will keep the website updated with the most current information.

In Solidarity,
Jarrett
